Interclub Competition Information


The Club aims to enter as many interclub teams as possible, depending on the number of members who wish to play and can commit to teams for the season.  You do not have to be a 'professional' tennis player to play interclub as there are grades for all levels !

A breakdown of these competitions is below:


Summer Interclub

Played on Saturdays (every fortnight 12.00pm start) commencing mid September and finishing the following March.    Competitions available are:

  • Presidents Grade (age 30+)  Teams of 8 (4 men, 4 women).   Each player plays 1 mixed doubles & 1 doubles match.
  • Singles Grade   Mens or Womens teams comprising 4 players.   Each player plays 1 singles and 1 doubles match
  • Super Tennis  Mens or Womens teams comprising 4 players.   Each player plays 3 doubles matches.   Times are set at either 12.00pm -3.00pm or 3.00pm - 6.00pm.

Teams are selected based on performance, current grading, club champs results and willingness to commit to a team for the season.   Configure ranking points accumulate. 



Winter Interclub

Played on Sundays (every fortnight 10.00am start) from May to August each year.   Competitions available are:   

  • Singles Grade  Mens or Womens teams comprising 4 players.   Each player plays 1 singles & 1 doubles match
  • Doubles Grade  Mens or Womens teams comprising 4 players.   Each player plays 2 doubles matches
  • Doubles Grade.    Four men and four women per team.    Each player plays 1 doubles and 1 mixed doubles match

The winter competition is a very relaxed and social way to keep up your tennis over winter - no Configure ranking points accumulate for winter interclub.




Midweek Ladies Interclub

Two competitions available during the summer season.   Lead in competition runs from October to December each year - and summer competition runs from February to April each year.    

  • Monday and Tuesday doubles competitions available - each player plays 2 doubles matches


Teams selected based on performance, current grading and club champs results.   Configure ranking points accumulate for the both the MWL lead-in and summer competitions.

A very informal and relaxed winter competition is played throughout Terms 2 and 3 on Tuesday mornings - no Configure ranking points accumulate for the winter competition.



Junior Interclub

Tennis Auckland also runs a Junior Interclub competition during Terms 1 and 4 of each year.    The junior competition is open to all junior members aged 18 years and under as at 30 April.     Entries are taken for each term's competition separately - and are called for in August and November.     Under Tennis Auckland rules, a junior player may play two terms of beginner grade interclub before being required to play the open grade competition. 

Competitions are available on both Saturdays and Sundays.   Open grades commence play @ 8.30am on Saturday mornings and 9.00am on Sunday mornings.    The beginner grades commence play @ 12.00pm on Saturdays and 9.00am on Sundays.
